Untranslatable Words (from other cultures)

A Sunday night linguistic find that has word girl (AKA me) smiling…also representing a train of thought within my current PhD thesis (Chapter 5). Some words you just can’t translate from their home language no matter how hard you try. They more about instinct, symbolism and feeling than literal objectification and meaning. Thanks to Maptia, ‘the new storytelling platform on a mission to build the most inspirational map in the world’ for this. I’d like to think my blog does the same, in part, when I’m here, there and everywhere engaging with different (trans)cultures. “Goya” is strangely enough one of my favourite words…for many different associations and reasons…as I said I’m smiling.
